Marketing Strategies: What You Need To Know To Market Your Business
Fundamentally, network marketing is an extension of traditional business networking in that it seeks to engage people based on spoken word advertising. An advantage is that network marketers can represent the products and/or services of their own choosing and immediately share and broadcast them with friends, family, clients, and customers – making it an extremely time and cost effective business model when done well.
To be even more time and cost efficient, it follows that many people venture to take their network marketing business onto the internet. Though it is not as instant a success mechanism as it may seem, there are incredible benefits in creating a brand for yourself online. Like anything else, there is a learning curve and, depending on your product or service and the company you represent, some strategies work better than others. Read on for some great advice on landing on the right strategy for your business.
“Mastery is a critical component to success in your business, wouldn’t you say? And, sometimes when we start a new business, in order to get more out of life, we can fall into overwhelm and feel like we are spinning our wheels.
So, let’s talk about how we make things simple.
. . . What is ONE skill you most want to master NOW, and first?
Take that one skill and challenge yourself to work on it before moving on to anything else, and then find someone else to teach it to.
MASTERY is key to success in anything.
- Are you skilled at contacting, inviting and presenting yet?
- Have you made your list and worked through it?
- Have you developed your success language?
- Do you have a daily and weekly action plan developed yet for your business?
- Or, are you guilty of hopping from one thing to the next?
. . . There is a statistic out there that most people spend 98% studying and only 2% taking action. Don’t let that be you.”
My Take: Find one online skill to master on the internet and give it your entire focus for at least 6 months, or until you are getting at least 10 leads a day. (Then remember to follow up on those leads! A critical error in my business growth – how’s that for being transparent? Lol!)
Choose from the following options: Social Media (focus on one platform – two at the most!), Content marketing (SEO, blogging, article marketing, video marketing), or paid marketing (Facebook pay per click or video ads, YouTube pay per click, banner ads, ezine/solo ads).
“The way that we’ve learned how to make money online is that it all starts with free content. On almost a daily basis we do a blog post, a Periscope and a podcast. I’m not saying you have to do all of those things, but I am saying if you want to build a list that loves you, start off by giving them something to love. That is, give them something that is of value, videos, articles, etc.
Here’s how you do it:
You need to look at who is it that you’re trying to attract:
- Who’s your target market?
- Who are the people that you really want to serve and who do you want to attract to you, and what are their problems?
- What do they struggle with?
- What questions might they have?
- What solutions do they desire?
- Where are their obstacles?
- What stories would help them?
- What other people are serving them that might be great to interview?
… Notice I didn’t say that for you to create an amazing list you first must become super successful because that’s not what I did. When I first started blogging and putting value into the marketplace of network marketing I was dead broke. I had failed in 11 different companies. I was in personal foreclosure. Life was not great. I just thought that if I start putting online content out into the marketplace that helps people I think I’ll build a list.”
My Take: Value comes from knowing who you are trying to reach. It is not about you. It is about them. Find the “them” you are positioned to truly help with your network marketing offer and focus on serving them. Relationships are the channel of reward for the value you give.
“One big secret to increasing your income is to develop loyal customers and then find ways to increase their monthly spend with you while absolutely DELIGHTING them with their new upgrade.
The sales process for this upgrade should be so SUBTLE that the consumer barely notices they are spending more.
Calling attention to the fact that you are selling them again can cause them to question their full monthly expenditure with you.
Once they are a customer you DEVELOP them…you don’t sell them.
My Take: Online network marketing is not just for collecting leads in a one shot deal. It is also extremely useful in developing your customer relationships over time. When you have a centralized hub, whether it be your blog, your facebook page, or a particular site you post to regularly, people know where they can find you to continue receiving your value. Don’t be a one-off. Keep reaching out and developing those relationships.
“When you’re doing email marketing, you need be sure you make your messages have a point. They need to have a “call to action” that allows people to know why you’re telling them this information, and you need to offer them something of value. When you can do this, you will make people happy to read through the rest of your message. Always have a promotion or something of that nature every once in a while too that they can take advantage of.
Get people to tell others about your email marketing messages by asking them to ask their friends to sign up. You could have a fun contest to get this kind of thing done for you. For instance, you can ask them to have friends sign up and whoever gets the most will get a product or service of yours for free or a discounted price.
Whatever you’re going to do, make sure the prize something interesting. You should also make sure you are able to provide that prize, because if you don’t, people may send out the word that you’re not providing for others.”
My Take: Whatever marketing strategy you choose to promote your network marketing business, you need to have a call-to-action, clear and precise, in every piece you put out there – even if it is just to like or comment on your post.
The best call to action you can have is for the purpose of collecting leads. Having a free product, checklist, report or sample people can trade their name and email information for is really a foundational step in building your network marketing business on line. Develop a list you can contact regularly via email and nurture it as your most valuable business asset.
As stated earlier, many people step into the online world with their network marketing business thinking that if they build it, dollars will come. Building it is an essential step, but only the first in a long line of essentials. Keep the advice in this piece in mind for peace of mind that your focus and forward thinking will put you ahead of the online network marketing curve.
